This afternoon, I mowed and trimmed our yard and planted 36 green bean seads.

Warmish due to the humidity. At 4:00 p.m., Toledo area temps were in the mid 70s. Dew point temps were in the low 60s, producing a relative humidity of 60 to 65%. Sky still mostly cloudy with periods of sunshine.

Late this afternoon and this evening, we'll be taking stuff to our neighbor's for the weekend garage sale that begins tomorrow morning.

We may see two upcoming mornings with temps in the mid 30s.

Toledo forecast for the mornings of May 15-16
Last Update: Thu, May 12, 2016 12:17 pm

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 34.

According to the N. IN. NWS, it may be windy enough on Saturday night/Sunday morning to prevent frost. It's forecast to be windy during the daytime on Saturday.

From the Cle NWS:

almost a fall type pattern setting up for the weekend.

models in good agreement with strong cold front moving across the forecast area friday night. lingering showers in the east saturday morning as the front will just be into ne oh by daybreak saturday.

aloft deep upper trough develops over the ne states. lake effect showers likely in the snowbelt late saturday into sunday as the 850mb temps plunge to -5c and west to northwest flow develops over the lake.

From this morning's Lake Erie forecast:

the water temperature off toledo is 56 degrees

It's not uncommon for northwest Ohio to experience high temps in the 50s during the first half May. Today it will be around 80. Two days from now, it will be in the low to mid 50s. That's how it goes in late April and early May.

It will feel a bit raw on Saturday.

Toledo forecast for May 14-15:

Saturday: A slight chance of showers before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Breezy, with a west wind 14 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 53.

High temps are forecast to be at least in the 60s for much of next week.

I'm fine, however, with the cooler than normal weather. I don't want a bunch of warm weather to indicate a trend toward a hot summer.

The birdsong is less than yesterday. SWTH was singing again at 12:50 p.m. A few other warblers were singing too. Birdsong activity declines during the middle part of the day, especially during warm and sunny weather.

The sky was partly sunny or mostly cloudy. I don't know which. Cloud cover is more than 80 percent most of the time with cumulus, stratocumulus, and maybe some clouds at higher levels. The sun pops in and out.

Based upon satellite imagery, we may have more sunshine this afternoon as fewer clouds move into the area. Then a thick bank of cloud cover may move in late this afternoon.

Temps may reach near 80 degrees today.

According to the latest SPC info, the risk for strong to severe thunderstorms continues to decrease, but a Marginal Risk still exists for the region.

Toledo Forecast - Last Update: May 12, 2016 12:17 pm

From inside our computer room with the windows up, I can hear birds singing: Swainson's Thrush, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Tennessee Warbler, Northern Parula Warbler, and Black-throated Green Warbler.

Black-throated Blue Warbler began singing along the west side of our house. Sky is partly to mostly cloudy. Sun in and out. Temps in the mid to upper 60s.

Between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m., the sky transitioned from overcast to mostly sunny with some thin, low cloud cover still lingering. From inside the house, I heard a Baltimore Oriole sing at 8:05 a.m., and at 8:54 a.m., a Swainson's Thrush started singing near the back of the house, and it's still singing at 9:00 a.m. Great song.

I stood in our backyard this morning from approximately 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. to check the migrating songbird activity. I observed the following with A=audio and V=visual:

0545#

Between 5:25 and 5:45 a.m., rain moved through the area. Most of the heavy rain fell over Wood County, but here in West Toledo, we received occasional bouts of moderate-to-heavy rainfall. Rain gauge measured 0.36 inches.

0430#

I awoke at 4:20 a.m., and instead of trying to get back to sleep, I read articles on my phone. I received a HeavyRain YO notification from my toledoweather.info website that uses forecast.io data. Radar showed some heavy rain cells in northwest Ohio, headed toward metro Toledo. At 4:00 a.m., the Cle NWS issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, which stated:

thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening ahead of an approaching cold front. isolated storms could become strong to severe with hail and damaging wind gusts possible.
